The FIA launches a call for tenders for the supply of tires from 2020

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has published on the official website of the Formula 1 a document intended for manufacturers around the world. This PDF is a call for tenders concerning the supply of tires for F1 from 2020 until 2023. Other information contained in this note: the ban on electric blankets from 2020.

Current partner of the discipline since 2011, Pirelli could respond favorably to this announcement. The Italian company entered F1 thanks to the single manufacturer rule. The FIA indicates that the “Interested parties are strongly encouraged to try to become the sole distributor of tires in F1. »

Even if the identity of the partner changes, we will have to wait a few more years to hope to see the return of the tire war, which marked the 2000s. Bridgestone carried out private tests to supply products to the Team Ferrari, while Michelin defended the interests of Renault, McLaren or even Williams.

Rubber manufacturers have until August 31, 2018 to make their comments heard. The FIA will judge the conformity of the requests with the technical regulations on September 14.
