The FIA ​​could review the conditions for obtaining the F1 Super License

Covid-19 has disrupted the 2020 competition calendars, leading to delays, reduced programs, and outright cancellations.  

In light of this uncertain situation where driving time is limited, the FIA ​​discussed with the teams, promoters and drivers the different promotional formulas to encourage participation and the resumption of activity. 

A specific federal working group has been set up to identify possible disparities between the different series, knowing that each has its own points scale to reward its winners on the path which leads to the Formula 1. 

« Many championships are going through a difficult period economically and competitors are understandably worried about whether the competitions will go through to their conclusion and what impact the pandemic could have on their climb up the FIA ​​championship pyramid., declared Stefano Domenicali, president of the FIA ​​Commission in charge of single-seater series.

The Federation is aware of these concerns and wishes to reassure competitors. The working group dedicated to the Super License is developing solutions to ensure fairness between competitors, encourage participation, and help the championships maintain a form of stability during this delicate period. ». 
 
Tom Kristensen, record holder for victories in 24 Hours of Le Mans and president of the FIA ​​Drivers Commission, specified that this working group exchanges with the various stakeholders to “ balance the points scales so that no runner is disadvantaged due to an unprecedented and changing situation ». 

Remember that any driver must collect 40 points and have reached the age of 18 to obtain the Super License, an essential entry point to racing in F1.
