Italian supporters of the Team whistled. A huge bronca took over the Monza stands late Sunday afternoon. In question, the management by the stewards of the end of the race, which ended under safety car regime while the car de Daniel Ricciardo, stopped before the parabolic, was slow to be withdrawn. As a result, fans were deprived of a relaunch that promised to be explosive.

Problem is, the teams and race management have always agreed to ensure that the races do not end like this. “I don’t understand why we did one more lap with the safety car,” said one Charles Leclerc who would have happily offered himself a final in a round against Max Verstappen. The FIA ended up communicating, explaining the reasons which motivated the race management not to restart the single-seaters.

“Despite all efforts made to remove the No. 3 car from the track and resume the race, the track marshals were unable to put the car in neutral, and thus push it into the race. 'loophole. Knowing that safety regarding our operations is our only priority, and that the incident was not significant enough to cause a red flag, the race ended under a safety car regime as stipulated in the race procedures. agreement between the FIA and the competitors. The timing of the safety car period in a race does not interfere in any way with the procedure.” That has the merit of being clear.

Following up on Daniel's intervention, was it the FIA that screwed up or the local stewards or both? In any case, here is the chronology of events: Call Ricciardo reporting that he no longer has power: T 0.00 STOP by Ricciardo T 0.06 RIC out of the car T 0.44 SC announced by the Race Direction T 1.14 (1'14 for put the SC, we saw better, but worse too) Arrival of the car commissioners T 3.10!!!! 2 minutes between the SC and walking the 100m to get back to the car: there, either they were drinking a Campari, or the order to get there was really too long. Observation that the BV is blocked: T 5.21!! There, we can clearly see the commissioner who cannot unblock the BV. He calls by radio, and tries again... But after two tries, they could have said "OK, we're sending the Manitou"... It's too long. Arrival of the manitou: T 6.44 Securing the car: T 7.04 There, it goes quickly! Laped cars may overtake:T 7.40 a little early because the Manitou is still on the track. Management must try to make a restart. Manitou in secure zone: T 8.18 Start of L52 at T 8.54 if BOT and TSU had doubled, could the restart have been done there? Commissioners in post again at T 9.25 Start of L53. T 11.15 Here I must say that I don't understand why we didn't restart. Charles is right (except that there were BOT and TSU and perhaps others, but they would have had time to duplicate...) So I think that there was a real problem of coordination and decision-making (Like at the arrival of F3) Agree with Daniel then. Timing done from the N°3 on-board cam and the international signal on F1-TV. This might be a good paper, no? ;-)

As usual the FIA responds ALONGSIDE especially by not mentioning the huge dysfunctions, why did the SC take so long to 'find' Verstappen? Why were the 2 F1s interspersed between Max and Charles not allowed to split? there was ample possibility of restarting the race for at least 1 lap, but for that the FIA representatives would have had to 'pull their fingers out of their asses'!!

“Never arriving” under SC in Indycar!?! Bernard, you missed a lot of races so... Regarding MOnza, I prefer that we follow the regulations rather than changing the rules like the 2021 final...

In NASCAR this is the case, but it cannot be transposed to F1, adding laps is incompatible with the impossibility of refueling!

F1 should take lessons in the USA, never finish under safety car
