FIA approves sale of F1 to Liberty Media

After Liberty Media shareholders validated the purchase of F1 commercial rights, the FIA ​​in turn approved the sale to the American media group following an extraordinary session held this Wednesday, January 18 in Geneva (Switzerland). All Delta Topco shares held by CVC Capital Partners will be able to be transferred to Liberty Media Corporation.

Liberty Media representatives detailed their strategy regarding their plans for the F1 before discussing the specifics of the agreement and the relationship between the American group and the FIA.

“The decision of the World Motor Sport Council confirms the FIA’s belief that Liberty, a renowned media group with expertise in both sport and entertainment, is particularly well positioned to ensure the continued development of this flagship Championship.”, declared the Federation in its press release.
