FOTA offers to help new teams

Gathered in London, the stable bosses met again. And it now seems that an agreement is close with the wishes of the FIA. Two points are missing from the regulations desired by Max Mosley: the (drastic) capping of budgets from 2010, as well as the technical and technological advantage for teams with a small budget. Since the validation of this regulation, FOTA has continued to proclaim its opposition. And seeks counter-proposals intended to respect the wishes of Max Mosley while not penalizing the current teams. With FOTA meeting this Thursday, it appears that the compromise proposed by FOTA is close to what Max Mosley and the FIA can accept.

The stable association offers two things. First, spread the budget cap over two seasons, as the paddock has been whispering for a few days. Before reaching the ceiling, wanted by Mosley in 2010, of 45 million euros, FOTA first wants a season of adaptation. Thus, to set the limit at 100 million for 2010, before increasing to 45 million in 2011.

The second proposal consists of returning to the technical advantage that the new teams would benefit from in 2010. Instead of this rule, perceived as very disadvantageous by the current teams, FOTA proposes to support the introduction by F1 new stables. By proposing a technical partnership with these new entrants, the teams on the grid are reaffirming their goodwill in this matter, while rejecting the idea of an advantage in favor of small teams. Before registrations for the 2010 world championship close on May 29, the ball is now in the FIA's court.
