The starting grid for the Sprint Race

This Saturday takes place the very first Sprint Race in the history of the Formula 1.

New format requires, the qualifications were contested on Friday and not Saturday, still in its traditional form (Q1, Q2 and Q3). Qualifications won by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), acclaimed by the almost 140.000 spectators present in the Silverstone stands.

In front of his compatriots, the Englishman got the better of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) to start from first place this Saturday during the Sprint Race.

Behind the leading trio, the gaps are very tight since only minus two tenths separate Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), 4th, from his teammate Carlos Sainz, 9th on the grid. Between the two men of Maranello Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) intervenes, the two drivers McLaren, Lando Norris et Daniel Ricciardo, as well as George Russell (Williams). A little further, Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) completes the Top 10.

Twelfth at the end of these qualifications, Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) will leave between the two pilots Alpine with Fernando Alonso 11th and Esteban Ocon 13e.
