The Mexican snatched fifth place from Daniel Ricciardo (Renault) in the final stages of Q3. The Australian was still satisfied by once again dominating his teammate Esteban Ocon, seventh on the starting grid this Sunday.
In good shape on the Sakhir track, the Alpha Tauri achieved good qualifying with 8th and 10th positions in Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat. Lando Norris on his McLaren was inserted between the two single-seaters of Faenza.
Improving in recent weeks, Ferrari was stopped in its tracks this Saturday. Sebastian Vettel et Charles Leclerc stopped at the gates of Q3, the German setting the 11th time just ahead of the Monegasque.
As usual, George Russell (Williams) outperformed his teammate Nicholas latifi. The Englishman will start from 14th place this Sunday while the Canadian will be last on the starting grid behind the Alfa Romeo by Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen as well as the Haas de Kevin Magnussen et Romain Grosjean.
