Sprint format requires, pole position was contested during the Sprint Race on Saturday and not during the traditional qualifying sessions organized this time on Friday.
Winner of the first Sprint Race in the history of the Formula 1, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) is the pole sitter for this 2021 British Grand Prix. On the front row, the championship leader is accompanied by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). Teammate of the latter, Valtteri Bottas is 3rd on the grid just ahead Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). Lando Norris (McLaren) completes the Top 5.
Author of an excellent start from 11th position on the grid on Saturday during the Sprint Race, Fernando Alonso (Alpine), a time 5th, will start from 7th position. The Asturian Bull will have at his side Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin).

Ninth at the finish of the Sprint Race, George Russell (Williams) was ultimately given a 3 place penalty. The Englishman was in fact found guilty of a collision with Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) during the 1st round. The Iberian, for his part, grabs a place thanks to this sanction and will start 10th behind Esteban Ocon (Alpine).
In difficulty with his AT02, Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri), although 12th at the finish on Saturday, is 11th on the grid. George Russell's sanction allows him to move up one place this Sunday.
The only withdrawal to note from the Sprint Race, Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) is dead last.
The start of the British Grand Prix is scheduled for 16 p.m. The race will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.
