For the first time in 150 Grands Prix, Carlos Sainz will be positioned on the first spot on the starting grid this Sunday for the British Grand Prix. In an indecisive and contested qualifying session on a wet track, the driver Ferrari took his first career pole position ahead of Max Verstappen of 72 thousandths.

Big favorite for pole position, the Dutchman was on track to win a 3rde this season. Alas, a brief yellow flag caused by Charles Leclerc a few seconds from the checkerboard forced him to cut his effort for a moment, thus losing all hope of pole position. Having made a mistake, the Monegasque was satisfied with 3e place on the starting grid this Sunday just ahead of Sergio Pérez and Lewis Hamilton.

Intractable in the rain in Canada a fortnight ago when he signed on the 2e chrono, Fernando Alonso was less successful this time. If he once had hope of an appearance in the Top 5, the double world champion finally ranked 7e, thus interposing himself between the two British Lando Norris and George Russell. The surprise of these qualifications was ultimately Nicholas latifi.

However, not incorporating the latest improvements on his Williams unlike his teammate Alex Albon, the Canadian climbed to Q3 for the first time in his career. While his garage neighbor was eliminated in Q1, Nicholas Latifi achieved his best performance in qualifying with 10e chrono.

For the French, Saturday was a bit more complicated. Trapped by conditions, Pierre Gasly et Esteban Ocon did not cross the threshold of Q2 at Silverstone. The Normans will respectively be 11e and 15e on the starting grid for the British Grand Prix.

Tune in at 16:00 p.m. to follow the British Grand Prix in live text this Sunday.
