Charles Leclerc can thank Red Bull. A bad calculation of essence by the engineers of the Austrian structure has in fact obliged Max Verstappen to abort his last attempt even though he was several tenths ahead of his Monegasque rival. A boon for the pilot Ferrari who signed his 9e pole position while the Dutchman ranked 8e on the starting grid for the Singapore Grand Prix after avoiding possible disqualification.

Behind Charles Leclerc the gaps were very tight since Lewis Hamilton, 3e, finished only 54 thousandths behind the poleman while Sergio Pérez took 2e position on the grid for only 22 thousandths. Author of a good qualification with the 5e clock while his teammate Esteban Ocon did not do better than 18e, Fernando Alonso is in a good position to aim a podium at the Singapore Grand Prix.
In a tricky qualifying session, Pierre Gasly was able to extract the maximum of his Alpha Tauri to sign a beautiful 7e place. Good performance also for his teammate Yuki tsunoda who seized the 9e position on the starting grid one week later the announcement of its extension for 2023.
