The starting grid for the Qatar Grand Prix

The Losail track hosts the 20th round of the season. During qualifying, it is Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) who was the fastest and who signed the 102nd pole position of his career. The seven-time world champion will have to defend his position against Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) who accompanies him on the first line and who benefits from the sanctions imposed on Max Verstappen et Valtteri Bottas. Behind them we find Fernando Alonso (Alpine), Lando Norris (McLaren) and Carlos Sainz (McLaren).

Initially in 2nd position, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) received 5 place penalties for not having respected the double yellow flag in qualifying and will start in 7th position, behind Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes). To complete the Top 10, we find, Yuki tsunoda (AlphaTauri), Esteban Ocon (Alpine) and Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin).

Author of a “disastrous qualification” according to his words, Sergio Perez (Red Bull) is only 11th on the starting grid. Max Verstappen's teammate is placed in front Lance stroll (Aston Martin) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). He also in great difficulty, Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) is only 14th, ahead of George Russell (Williams), Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo), Nicholas latifi (Williams) and Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo). At the back of the grid, we find the two drivers of the team Haas, Mick Schumacher et Nikita mazepin.
