The Lotus E23 absent from the first day at Jerez

If Pastor Maldonado was expected at the wheel of the Lotus E23 during this first day of testing in Jerez, the car byenstone did not take to the track on the Spanish circuit. The British team waited to receive the car which left the English factory only yesterday evening. But with the tests ending at 17 p.m., the Venezuelan was unable to participate in the session.

Lotus F1 Team remains optimistic for the rest of the tests. The British team had to skip the winter tests at Jerez last year. “We have started a very aggressive development program on the E23 Hybrid which is one of the most technologically advanced single-seaters to come from Enstone.”, commented Nick Chester, the team's technical director. “We will hit the track as soon as we are engineering ready. We started the car in Enstone and are now preparing to do our first laps. »

If the Lotus E23 Hybrid could take to the track this Monday, February 2, the team estimates that the first significant tests will not be carried out until the third day of testing in Jerez.
