Silverstone curse pursues Button

Jenson Button seems cursed at Silverstone, the Briton having never managed to win on his home turf. The 2009 World Champion was however on the pace of the leaders and could hope to secure a podium. But he retired when leaving the pits, his front right wheel being poorly fixed by one of his mechanics.

The pilot McLaren does not hide his disappointment. “It’s really very disappointing”, comments the Briton. “For the round held on home soil, I enjoyed the race, my pace was good. I was in a fight with Lewis (Hamilton), Sebastian (Hag) and Mark (Webber). I was doing well, I would have come out alongside Webber after my stop. »

“Let’s hope these kinds of problems don’t come up again.” Whoever was on the pace at the end had a chance of a podium and I certainly had my chances?, specifies Jenson Button. “ We all make mistakes and we always hope that they never happen. It?s all the more disappointing that this happened at home. »
