The Marussia MR01 approved

Last week, Marussia F1 Team announced with disappointment that it would not take part in the last winter tests in Barcelona. The reason, its new MR01 had failed one of the 18 crash tests required by the FIA. Today, everything is in order. The day after the presentation of its new weapon, the Russian team is able to announce that the MR01 is now approved after having passed this famous crash test.

“After a few complicated weeks for the team, we are delighted to announce that we have overcome the last obstacle represented by this crash test required by the FIA, which we successfully passed today. explains Pat Symonds, technical consultant for John Booth's team. The element in question had successfully passed an “unofficial” test but had failed the one retained by the FIA. The failure was not a big deal, and we had to implement a slightly more robust solution. Changes to the initial piece were minor. We were all happy to see the news car on the track for the last two days, and although we have a lot of time to make up, we are taking to heart the fact that everything is back to normal. We are now looking forward to the next challenge: The opening round in Melbourne next week”. This is good news for the Frenchman Charles Pic and the German Timo Glock.
