The Mercedes W06 Hybrid is revealed in Jerez

She is the big favorite for her own succession. The W06 Hybrid, descendant of the W05 Hybrid which largely dominated the 2014 season of the World Championship F1, was officially presented in Jerez in Spain, just before the start of the first winter tests. There car which will once again be piloted by the duo Lewis Hamilton ? Nico Rosberg, had already taken to the track last Thursday at Silverstone in England. Still sporting a silver gray livery, the W06 Hybrid adopts as its main novelty a revised and corrected nose according to the regulations now in force.

“From the outside, winter might look like a time of rest in F1. But this is very far from the truth, Explain Toto wolff, boss of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. Well before the end of last season, development work on our 2015 car became the main priority. It would be dangerous to rest on our laurels after 2014 – but none of us think things will be easier now. On the contrary, our motivation is stronger than ever. We are fully aware that success is not only hard-won, but can also be short-lived without the right approach. »

Paddy Lowe, Executive Director in charge of technology, continues by indicating that the W06 Hybrid is the result of development in many areas. “Of course, like all the other teams on the grid, we have worked harder than ever to find areas to make performance gains. Some changes will be more visually obvious, of course, but it's all in the details. Under the skin, there have been a series of developments to both the chassis and the Power Unit, all of which aim to create a car that is safer, more efficient, more reliable and ultimately faster. »

It is the German Nico Rosberg who will be the first to take to the track this Sunday at the wheel of the latest Mercedes.
