The MP4-25 optimized to the end

The MP4-25s had their worst result of the season at the Hungarian Grand Prix, scoring only four points, compared to 40 for Red Bull, and 30 for Ferrari. If the English team is still in the race, eight points behind the Red Bull, it must recover as quickly as possible to keep up with the pace of the cars of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

The team's sporting director, Jonathan Neale, expressed his team's inability to produce a flexible front wing on the MP4-25, which is used on Red Bull's RB6 and F10 of the Scuderia. This innovation could be sorely lacking for the two World Champions, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, on the Spa-Francorchamps route, which alternates between long straights and more or less tight turns.

« It is a very close Championship at this level of competition “, commented Neale. “ It will be a real development race, as it has been since the start of the year, with drivers very close to each other. The outcome depends on what we can invent in the meantime. We are preparing new packages for Singapore (September 26, in three Grand Prix, editor’s note) and after. If we are in the same situation as today, we will make improvements to the single-seaters until the last race of the season. »

Even if the summer break was long, development should have evolved in the same way, since the teams were no longer allowed to work on the development of single-seaters during the break. “ We were down in Hungary “, continued Jonathan Neale. “ The gap with Ferrari and Red Bull was significant. But we are working very hard to resolve this issue. It's really close at the front and we're fighting to get back into the fight. Every race is important and the Championship will be really close at the end of the season. We want to win it more than anyone. »
