The new Williams FW41 fishes when entering a turn

The team of Whole grained was relatively discreet during the two weeks of winter testing in Barcelona. Lance stroll and Sergey Sirotkin did not really set the clock in Catalonia at the wheel of a car that had been profoundly reworked aerodynamically compared to its predecessor.

“We tested a lot of things during these tests and the car's current limits are corner entry and stability., explains Lowe. This is often the case with a new car but the phenomenon is particularly marked with our test program.

If we can make progress in this area, we will be able to greatly improve our time performance because other aspects of the car are working very well.

This type of problem involves an important aerodynamic factor but the solutions include everything, from suspensions to tires. It’s always a multi-dimensional question. »

Despite this timid introduction, Claire Williams would like to see the team she manages fight behind the three “big guys” that are Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull after finishing fifth last year.

“I hope we are in the fight for fourth place, she said. We always aim to improve. It will be difficult. Renault looks very solid for example. I hope we will have good races and that we will be in the fight. »
