We were undoubtedly expecting it earlier, potentially as early as this month of June, but the next technical regulations of the F1, which will govern the premier category of motorsport from the 2021 season, will be unveiled by the FIA and Liberty Media in October.
The international federation confirmed the information this Thursday the postponement of the presentation until the end of October at the earliest.
“Following discussions during the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal and a meeting today June 13 in Paris between the FIA, the team principals and the technical directors of the ten teams, the sole manufacturer of the championship and many pilots – Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg and Alexander Wurz – it was unanimously agreed to postpone the final presentation of the technical, sporting and financial regulations of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship for 2021 and subsequent periods until the end of October 2019, indicates the FIA press release.
If the key stakeholders of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship believe that the basic objectives set out for the future set of regulations have been defined, it was agreed that, in the interests of the sport, a better result would be achieved using the extra time spent on development and consultation.
Additionally, following today's first meeting bringing together the aforementioned stakeholders, a series of additional meetings will be held over the coming months. »
The 2021 technical regulations must offer a real overhaul of F1 single-seaters. Remember that a World Motor Sport Council is due to be held tomorrow in Paris.
