Williams Racing made a magnificent comeback in 2014 with Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas, well helped by the Power Unit of Mercedes. The Grove team is now expected to turn the corner, but the British structure intends to progress step by step before being able to fight for the world titles.
The first objective is to return to the top step of the podium, a feat that has not happened to Williams since the victory of Pastor Maldonado at the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. “We have realistic goals. We still are at Williams”, commented Claire Williams, the team's Team Principal, in Esquire magazine. “We made a lot of progress last year and we need to build on that this year. We are in F1 to win and we didn't win a race last year. We therefore want to impose ourselves to get closer to our opponents and one day fight for another world title. »
Williams has not won the Drivers' and Manufacturers' Championships since Jacques Villeneuve in 1997.
