Mercedes' caution this winter? “Bullshit” for Vettel

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) did not have his tongue in his suit on Friday March 15 during free practice for the Australian Grand Prix of Formula 1. The four-time world champion, second and fifth in the two sessions, is surprised by the pace displayed by the Mercedes.

The Silver Arrows have indeed taken the first places, while during the winter tests in Barcelona (Spain), Lewis Hamilton estimated he could possibly concede half a second on the Ferraris ! « What was all this bullshit about, like they were out of shape, etc.? I didn't understand to be honest. So it's a bit surprising (to see them in front. Ed.) », said the German.

Thursday at a press conference, the outgoing champion defended himself as follows: “It's difficult to gauge the forces involved and know where everyone stands. But we said we had work and we weren't talking bullshit, we will have to roll up our sleeves. »

Is Sebastian Vettel disturbed by this bluffing game from Mercedes? “I don’t know if it was just us who struggled today, or the other teams as well, but I think Mercedes were a class above”, continues the German.

"They certainly seem a lot stronger than they claimed before." » The winner of the last Australian GP will have to ignore the rivals and regain confidence in view of the qualifying session scheduled for Saturday from 7 a.m. French time.
