Security was largely at the center of discussions at the FIA Drivers Commission, chaired by Emerson Fittipaldi, double world champion in F1, whose last meeting was held in Paris.
In line studies carried out by the International Federation regarding the protection of cockpits, the Commission insisted on the fact that the solutions which are being developed for F1 must “be simple and affordable to be implemented at all levels of competition in car."
The idea of creating a compulsory course for young people coming from karting which would emphasize awareness of their responsibilities and expectations in terms of safety was also raised. This course would also include technical and sports training. A member of the Commission could be involved in the training.
Respecting track limits, an element regularly leading to penalties in motorsport, was also on the menu of discussions.
