The Mark Webber surprise at Suzuka

Mark Webber took his first pole since the 2012 South Korean Grand Prix by winning Suzuka qualifying by more than a tenth ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel which was again disrupted by SREC issues. The Australian will have a great opportunity to aim for a first success for his last season in the discipline since the leader of the Championship is almost assured of the title.

“Sebastian had a problem in qualifying and the team told me I could go for pole”, declared the Australian at a press conference. “I’m going to have a great opportunity to play tomorrow. We managed to achieve a good strategy with the tires today. I will keep good memories of Suzuka. The wind complicated the situation today because the car moved a lot on this narrow track. In any case, the car seems very competitive for the race. »
