Third place as a medium-term objective for Racing Point

In constant progress since its launch in 2008, Sahara Force India F1 had twice reached fourth place in the Manufacturers' ranking in 2016 and 2017, benefiting in particular from the good performances of Sergio Pérez, Nico Hulkenbergthen Esteban Ocon.

A better result in F1 that the new management team of the team now known as Racing Point F1 wants to surpass in the medium term. Racing Point F1 will be able to count on its technical support and financial capacity greater than in past years for a structure which in 2018 exceeded 200 Grands Prix in the discipline.

“There is nowhere left to hide, underlines Andy Stevenson, in charge of the sports section, on the F1 site. I'm sure the owners won't be happy with staying fourth forever, but this jump is a big jump at the moment.

The new owners are very realistic. Lawrence has been in F1 for a long time and he understands the sport inside and out. »

“In the short term, we want to continue to fight where we are, indicates for his part Lawrence Stroll. In the medium term we want to try to fight for third place instead of fourth. In the long term, when all the rules change, we hope we will be one of the best teams in the paddock. »

Racing Point F1 will unveil its car in Canada, home of the Stroll family, on February 13. Lance Stroll will support the Mexican Sergio Pérez, replacing Esteban Ocon, who will have to be content with a place of third driver this season.
