Lance Stroll impresses in the rain

Si Lewis Hamilton broke this Saturday at Monza the pole record co-held with Michael Schumacher since last Sunday in Belgium, Lance stroll for its part, set another record at the Italian Autodromo.

The Canadian from the stable Williams, fourth in the session, benefits from penalties for changing engine elements on the Red Bull de Max Verstappen et Daniel Ricciardo, to climb to the front row alongside Lewis Hamilton. A result which allows him to beat the record for the youngest driver to reach a front row in F1, which Max Verstappen held until now.

A performance all the more remarkable as the European champion F3 established a successful performance in conditions that he had little control over. « It was a lot of fun, the car handled well, Stroll comments.

I have never driven one car Formula 1 in wet conditions, so I tried to manage and it worked today. I'm proud, I really had a good time. I know we've struggled a lot over the last few weeks in the dry, not being able to get past Q1, but today we put it all together. »

As good as in Baku?

Third in Azerbaijan after having long eyed second place, Lance Stroll could surpass his best result in F1 tomorrow in the race, on a Lombard track where his Williams FW40 regularly displayed one of the best top speeds this weekend. “We have to concentrate and, from the first row of the grid, hope for a good race. » Stroll concludes.
