Lance Stroll: “I deserve to be here”

Lance stroll has had to face the multiple criticisms leveled against him since his arrival in F1 within the stable Williams Martini Racing. Largely supported by his father, the Canadian benefited from a personalized test program with former Grove single-seaters before debuting in Australia this year.

After a difficult start to the season with three retirements, the British team's driver waited for his home event in Canada to score his first points in the discipline, before scoring an unexpected podium in Azerbaijan, thus responding to criticism, coming among others from the 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve.

« I'm not here to prove anyone wrong, I'm here for myself and my team, says Lance Stroll on ESPN. I know why I'm here and I deserve to be here. »

Awareness of its history

The young Canadian does not hide having had an incredible opportunity to arrive in F1, but also recalls having obtained convincing results in the lower categories, by seizing his chance on the track, in order to get noticed.

« I know why I'm here. I cannot deny the reality that I had the opportunity to grow up in an environment that few children have. I'm lucky to come from where I come from and to have been able to go to Europe to pursue my dreams. But I grabbed it with both hands and won championships to get here […]

In Formula 1 you need, unless you are in the top three teams, support to help you. In the lower categories, motorsport is incredibly expensive. I also have sponsors other than my father who have supported me. There's more to it than my father's money story. »
