Lando Norris was one of the first drivers to storm the Raidillon de l'Eau Rouge in Q3. Unfortunately for the Briton, his flying lap was cut short. He lost control of his McLaren MCL35M before violently hitting the wall at the top of Raidillon. Fortunately, the 21-year-old pilot was able to get out under his own power but he held his arm.
As is the procedure, Lando Norris visited the medical center. He was then transferred to a hospital to have an X-ray of his elbow. McLaren has just confirmed that its driver is well and that he is fit to compete in tomorrow's Grand Prix.
“The examinations were done at the hospital, particularly on his elbow which was causing him pain, Seidl explained to journalists in Spa. Everything is ok and it will be back in the car tomorrow. I haven't spoken to him yet but we will tonight. It was a violent impact but fortunately safety is important in F1 »
The British driver is currently in ninth place on the starting grid. However, important pieces on its car flanked by the number 4 could be damaged, particularly the chassis and the engine. Damage which could be synonymous with a penalty on the grid.
“We do not yet know the extent of the damage to the car, admits Seidl. We still need to do some checking. Our place on the starting grid tomorrow will depend on this. But the most important thing is that Lando Norris is ok. »
McLaren will be able to count on Daniel Ricciardo in Spa. The Australian set the fourth time this Saturday afternoon.
