Lando Norris pulled off a magnificent hat trick at the very end of qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to take pole position ahead of his team-mate Oscar piastri, synonymous with a 100% first line McLaren for the last grid of this 2024 season of Formula 1 in front, there Ferrari de Carlos Sainz and a surprising Nico Hulkenberg (Haas).

With this performance, the British team finds itself on a royal road to winning its first Constructors' title since 1998. All the more so given the misfortunes of Charles Leclerc, eliminated in Q2 after a lap erased for having exceeded the limits of the track at turn 1 and penalized ten places on the grid for a battery change, will relegate the Ferrari of the Monegasque to the penultimate position for the start.

« It's a perfect day for us, smiled Lando Norris after the qualifying session. We have been fast all weekend, but it was a bit more complicated than expected. My lap at the end was really solid. That's definitely the way I wanted to end today. We want to beat Ferrari, we want to do it in style by winning the race. We know what we have to do, we have to stay focused. We are here to win every race possible. Tomorrow (Sunday) we have a great chance to do that. We will give it our all, but the ultimate goal is to beat Ferrari. It's nice to end this season's qualifying in this way. »

Join us this Sunday at 14:00 p.m. for the start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last meeting of the 2024 Formula 1 season.
