The second part of the year 2023 suggested this, McLaren quickly emerged as a contender for the 2024 title. The British team successfully developed and quickly entered the fight for victories and titles in the wake of Lando Norris, finally behind the wheel of a car capable of regularly competing at the front. While his team managed to end a 24-year drought by winning the constructors' championship, Lando Norris had to settle for second place in the drivers' standings behind Max Verstappen.

The Briton missed his chance due to small errors linked to his lack of experience at this level. It's a year where I'm pretty proud of my performance. Proud to have performed under the pressure that we were put under, to have risen to the occasion when I did. rewind the McLaren driver to the with the BBC. "I made mistakes and at the same time I learned a lot from those mistakes. So to go into next year and say, 'we've got what it takes, we've got a car'... I think I'm a pretty good driver and I've got everything it takes."

Title year for Lando Norris?

With very stable regulations in 2025, McLaren should still be playing in front and Lando Norris will have opportunities to do at least as well as his four victories obtained in 2024. The number 4 has confidence in himself and his driving: he considers himself good enough to be world champion. “I’m looking forward to 2025 knowing that I’ve learned a lot, improved a lot and am ready to beat everyone. I’ve struggled with confidence in the past and I’ve probably built up enough confidence over the course of this season to say, ‘I’m confident that I’m a good enough driver to win a championship next year’ and that I can fight anyone who wants to fight me for it.”

Lando Norris will have to dominate his rivals from other teams, but also manage the internal threat. Oscar piastri made it clear last season that he was not going to settle for a number 2 role, even when his teammate was in a position to play for the title. For his third season in Formula 1, the Australian will be expected to match his garage neighbour after managing to win his first two F1 victories this year in Budapest and Baku.
