Lando Norris wins an award at the Laureus Sports Awards

Winner of the world title in Abu Dhabi last December after a hard-fought final against Max Verstappen and his teammate Oscar piastri, Lando Norris was honored by the prestigious Laureus Sports Awards on Monday. The British driver notably beat, in the "Breakthrough Artist of the Year" category, footballer Désiré Doué, winner of the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, and darts player Luke Littler, who earlier this year won his second consecutive world championship title at only 19 years old.

Norris was not the only member of the motorsports contingent to be nominated, as his team, McLaren, was competing for the title of sports team of the year. Zak Brown's team, however, had to concede defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, who dominated the football world in 2025, winning the Champions League, the Trophée des Champions, the French league title, the Coupe de France, the European Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

World champion MotoGP In 2025, Marc Márquez was in contention for the Sportsman of the Year award. The Ducati rider lost out to Carlos Alcaraz, winner of the French Open and the US Open, who finished the year as the world's number one tennis player. Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis, Tour de France winner and world cycling champion Tadej Pogacar, and current world number one tennis player Jannik Sinner were among the nominees for this highly prestigious award.
