The 2017-2019 call for tenders for tires launched

The FIA has just launched its call for tenders concerning the supply of erasers F1 for the period 2017-2019, the contract of Pirelli, current sole manufacturer of F1, effectively ends at the end of the 2016 season. As specified by Reuters, applications must reach the FIA before June 17 and a single manufacturer will be selected at the end of the selection process.

If the diameter of the wheels in F1 is today 13 inches, the FIA does not exclude in the document an increase in this dimension “if the tire manufacturer believes that there may be advantages for competitors by doing so. »

We know that Michelin especially did not hide his desire to return to F1, only with a change to 18 inches, as is the case in Formula E, where the French manufacturer is involved. The Clermont-Ferrand firm had recently indicated that it wanted to present its proposals for this call for tenders.
