Long criticized for his performances below his teammate George Russell at Williams (for example, he was always ahead of the Englishman in 27 qualifications), Nicholas latifi nevertheless scored his first points in Formula 1 at the Hungaroring (Hungary), while finishing ahead of his colleague in the garage.

The Canadian allowed Williams to sign his best result in the discipline for two years thanks to his seventh place. Enough to impress his boss, Jost Capito.

« Nicholas was bound to score some points one day! I am sure that this result will be a boost for him and will give him more self-confidence. Qualifying behind George and ultimately finishing in front of him is a huge motivation for him.”, He explains.

The former director of Volkswagen Motorsport from 2011 to 2016 even goes so far as to declare that “This result shows how much Nicholas deserves to be in F1. He was third at the start of the race. He held on despite the pressure, it was remarkable on his part. »
