Laurent Mekies (Racing Bulls): “We were surprised by our performance”

Although his team is leaving Fanny in Australia, the French boss is satisfied with Racing Bulls' weekend, which was in contention for the top five thanks to Yuki Tsunoda until the end of the race. A performance the Faenza team was not expecting when they arrived in Melbourne.

Laurent, what feeling do you have after the Australian Grand Prix: disappointment at not having scored any points or satisfaction at seeing that the car is performing well?

Above all, disappointment. The competition is extremely tough, and losing points that seemed within our reach, especially for Yuki (4th with 11 laps to go. Ed.), is very hard to accept. It's part of the race, we made mistakes, and it's our job to analyze them to come back stronger in the next event.
