The future of the US GP in Austin in danger?

While the promoters of the US GP in Austin (Texas) fear an economic impact following the downpours which disrupted the last edition contested on October 25, the financial situation of the Circuit of the Americas could get even worse with the reduction in subsidies granted by the state.

If the organizers have so far received 25 million dollars per year (around 23 million euros), this year they had to be satisfied with an amount estimated at 19,5 million dollars (or around 18 million euros). euros), which represents a loss of 20%.

“To use a technical term, I think we’re screwed.”, launched Bobby Epstein, the president of the Circuit of the Americas in an interview with My statesman. “It hits us hard. No one could have seen this coming. But the big question is know if the race (the Grand Prix) will take place again."

Bobby Epstein clarified that the evolution of COTA is based on the promises made by the state. “We had clear promises. It’s like going to a restaurant and ordering dinner and the service changes the price after you eat.”, added the president of the American circuit.

The Circuit of the Americas not only welcomes the F1. International championships such as the WEC and Moto GP also stop in Austin.
