Canada extends its lease for 10 years

The Gilles Villeneuve circuit is one of the flagship stages of the racing season. F1 since 1978. Until 2008 without interruption, the premier discipline of motorsport made its stopover every year on the artificial island of Montreal. After a break in 2009, Grand Prix returned in 2010 with a contract that expired this year. During a press conference attended by representatives of the federal and provincial governments as well as the mayor of the city of Montreal Denis Coderre, the lease between Canadian racing and F1 was officially extended for the next ten years.

Major infrastructure modernization work is already planned, with the construction of a new paddock, and the renovation of the control tower and medical facilities. According to local media, the amount of the bill could amount to between 25 and 40 million dollars for all of the repairs desired by the FOM. We will therefore see the famous Wall of Champions again until at least 2024.
