The comparison between the Red Bull RB20 and the Red Bull RB21

Here is the new weapon of the four-time reigning world champion. This Tuesday morning, Red Bull officially unveiled its RB21, on the eve of the winter tests in Bahrain. In 2025, the Austrian team has a lot at stake: one year before the new technical regulations and the switch to Ford RBPT engines, the formation of Milton Keynes will have to provide a car sufficiently efficient to Max Verstappen to allow him to aim for a fifth world title... if necessary, against a backdrop of internal tensions between the Verstappen clan and Christian Horner, the Dutchman could well be tempted to see if the grass is "Greener" elsewhere.

In 2024, Max Verstappen had managed to defend his world title by "optimising" his start to the season (seven poles and seven wins in ten Grands Prix) and managing his championship lead during the second half of the campaign. Unfortunately, in the summer, the RB20 fell down the hierarchy against McLaren, Ferrari et MercedesThe Austrian machine had suddenly lost its advantage and had become much more complicated to drive, with an often unpredictable balance and a higher tyre degradation than its rivals. Red Bull had managed to make corrections which had allowed its star driver to return to victory at the end of the season and to glean a fourth world title.

The Red Bull RB21 is intended to be an evolution of last year's RB20. The Austrian single-seater is supposed to correct the flaws of its predecessor, particularly in terms of balance and balance on the track, one of the major problems encountered during last season. Visually, the RB21 is not a revolution compared to the RB20: we note above all a redesigned engine cover with the definitive removal of the "cannon cooling" (two large "tubes" on the rear part of the engine cover, supposed to help with cooling), already removed during the 2024 season. Concerning the livery, however, nothing new: apart from a few new sponsors (and the absence of Sergio Pérez's previous sponsors), the livery is almost the same as in recent seasons.
