The class council: McLaren, too many absences

Having been the clear frontrunner in the 2025 championship, the Woking-based team has not lived up to expectations at the start of this season. However, Oscar Piastri's podium finish at Suzuka offers a glimmer of hope for the remainder of the campaign.

McLaren is certainly paying the price for having mobilized its resources for the title last year, but also for a messy end to the season which forced it to fight until the last GP, when it should have secured both titles earlier, which would have allowed it to turn its attention to 2026.
