Kubica's co-driver testifies

While Flavio Briatore and Vitantonio Liuzzi visited Robert Kubica today, Jakub Gerber, the Pole's co-driver, spoke to our colleagues at Gazzetta dello Sport about the circumstances of the accident they suffered yesterday during the rally Round of Andora. “ We knew the road was wet and slippery. We were prepared for it, he reports. After sliding, the car hit a guardrail. Then we got into the second one. He pierced the car and I quickly realized it was serious. Robert had a bruise under his eyes after hitting the steering wheel. He lost consciousness and I went out through the window because the door was boarded up."

Gerber, although he added that the evacuation procedure took almost an hour and a half due to the geographical location, is very critical of this portion of the road and the opening between the two rails which, ultimately, caused this damage. “ This opening is nonsense. But all in all, our cars shouldn't be this fragile on the front side. This is not the first time an accident like this has occurred. The Federation should think about a safer way to protect the passenger compartment“. As for whether the crash was the pilot's responsibility, his sidekick prefers to tone it down. “ In a competition, you try to go as fast as possible. Robert is the type of person who is particularly thoughtful, always looking for improvement. It is precise, fast and clean. A truly complete pilot"
