Details of the major developments made by Ferrari in Bahrain

This is the first highlight of the season in the race for upgrades. Ferrari is the leading team that is drawing first, bringing a substantial package to the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Italians arrive in the Middle East with a brand-new floor, expected to bring more performance, even if the drivers insist they are not expecting a revolution.

The Scuderia has redesigned the floor deflectors, as well as the leading edges of the floor. "The evolution of the floor and the bulkheads at the front aims to reduce losses that occur downstream.", explains Ferrari's note. The floor itself has been modified at the rear, where the "boat tail shape" and tunnel expansion have been reoptimized, along with the loading of the floor edge and the evacuation of vorticity towards the diffuser.

Finally, the rear wing has also been slightly modified and aims to improve the car's aerodynamic efficiency. These developments should allow Ferrari to take a step forward, but not yet put it in a position to win, according to Frédéric Vasseur. "If last year we took a step forward at the mid-season, it wasn't because we found the miracle solution. We never found anything on the car worth three or four tenths.", tempers the Frenchman.

"We have some new elements on the car coming this weekend, which I hope will help us get closer to the competition," he hoped. Charles Leclerc Thursday. "I don't think it will be enough to completely close the gap, I think we will be more or less where we were before.", however, qualifies the Monegasque. "I am convinced that we can catch up, even if what we bring here will not be enough. I hope that the gap will be reduced, but it will not be enough to be at the level of McLaren and Max Verstappen starting this weekend. But I hope that in the short term, we will have other little things that will help us get closer."

Ferrari's rivals also made some changes, but not to the same extent as the Scuderia. McLaren only changed its front brake ducts, while Red Bull brings a redesigned front spoiler and new air vents, as HaasThe other six teams on the grid are running the same car in Bahrain as in Japan.
