There is always some damage among teams. But among Williams, it has been particularly high this season. Indeed, the Grove team has had a turbulent campaign both on track and at the factory where the mechanics have spent a long time repairing the FW46s after the numerous accidents.
No one really escaped it. There was Alex Albon in Australia or more recently in Brazil, Logan sargeant in the Netherlands or Franco Colapinto in Brazil, Las Vegas and Qatar. Regardless of whether the drivers were responsible or not, the accidents have done a lot of damage to Williams' accounts, which is now forced to revert to earlier versions for its soldiers, just like Colapinto, who no longer has the latest developments.
A situation that is mainly explained by the lack of time to produce the parts once again at the factory while the stock is practically exhausted. Thus, the English team will arrive in Abu Dhabi walking on eggshells, praying that its drivers stay on the track and away from any incident.
« We can expect perhaps a range of three serious accidents in a season., says team principal James Vowles. Yet in our case we are at 17 in a total of 23 races.
The damage suffered by Franco (Colapinto, in Qatar) are unfortunately significant. The chassis has been affected and we have a team that will be going to Abu Dhabi and working through the night to make sure it is in the race. The gearbox has been affected by the damage from the incidents on both cars, then there has been damage to the floor pan, rear suspension and other components… "I can't wait for the end of the season at Williams, who no longer have much to play for.

If Colapinto made a smashing debut that immediately made us forget Sargeant, didn't he end up having as many, if not more, crashes than the American?
