The Mercedes duo not yet completely satisfied with the balance of the W11

We were waiting for the Mercedes comfortably at the top of the timesheet. It was not the case. Nothing alarming, however, since Lewis Hamilton finished in 2nd place in Free Practice 1, half a second behind Max Verstappen but with a Medium tire against Soft tires for the driver Red Bull

In the afternoon, the six-time world champion slipped to 5th position, three tenths behind the Racing Point of Lance stroll.

« It was quite a complicated day, commented Hamilton in the evening. It's always very windy here, it's part of the charm of the place but it complicated things today.

The balance is not what I would like it to be. We will work on this point this evening. Nothing catastrophic but we had to work hard at the wheel. I didn't feel completely comfortable. Fortunately, we have great engineers. This is one of the strong points of this team. ».

Mercedes feared extreme heat after the mechanical scares experienced in Austria at the start of the season. Bottas assures, however, that the high temperatures recorded this Friday at Silverstone did not pose a problem for the Black Arrows. But the Finn also reported behavior that could still be improved.

« The balance of the car was quite precarious, particularly in Free Practice 1, said Bottas. The situation improved during the second session. The gaps are quite tight and we are used to making progress between Friday and Saturday. The general feeling is quite good. Racing Point and Red Bull look pretty competitive nonetheless ».

In short, we are almost certain to find the Mercedes at the forefront from qualifying.
