The buried two-day format

With the reduction in costs for the coming years established, the Formula 1 is looking for ways to reduce its expenses.

One of the ideas recently mooted was a two-day race weekend with a single practice session lasting 90 minutes on Saturday before qualifying and the race on Sunday. This scheme was even tried when F1 came to Imola in the fall of 2020.

Rather well received by the paddock, this format was still on Liberty Media's books with the aim of reducing costs. Ultimately, it will not last long.

In a video on the Formula 1 website, the new boss Stefano Domenicali justified himself by explaining that the organizers were inclined to traditional weekends.

« All the organizers wanted to have a complete event for the public, he said at first. We must therefore respect this ". It couldn't be clearer.
