The French GP is working to improve accessibility to Paul Ricard

The big black spot in the organization of Grand Prix of France 2018 at Paul Ricard, for the return of F1 in France, had been the accessibility of the Var circuit. Many spectators had widely commented on their misadventures in traffic jams as they approached the complex.

To try to respond to this problem, the organizers of the event have announced the implementation of several measures for the 2019 edition.

– The objective of reducing the number of vehicles around the Circuit to 10. For this, relay car parks will be set up in La Ciotat and Le Castellet with a dedicated road to access the circuit in 45m / 1 hour by free shuttle.

Le carpooling will also be favored since any vehicle with 5 people on board will be able to use a dedicated lane with a parking area near the Circuit. For spectators coming on two wheels, a new asphalt parking lot will be created. “Normal” road traffic on Friday will be reduced thanks to exceptional measures.

The shuttles between the major cities of the Region and the Circuit will also be doubled, and a taxi/VTC station will be installed.

– Parking will be the second area of intervention. Smaller but more numerous zones will be allocated to the different arrival and departure routes, thus avoiding crossing flows.

– Road flows will be adapted for the occasion. The Camp roundabout will become 2x2 lanes and a new axis towards Toulon will be created. The DN8 towards Beausset and Cuges-les-Pins will become one lane.

- An application will provide real-time information to spectators: routes, travel times, exit times, parking areas, etc.

More information will be given in the event of a new announcement.
