The British GP at best behind closed doors

The scenes of popular jubilation regularly seen at Silverstone in recent years to celebrate British drivers and more particularly the successes of Lewis Hamilton should not be on the menu in 2020.

In a letter addressed to ticket holders for the event scheduled for July 19, those responsible for the legendary English route indicated that behind closed doors remained the only possible option in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have delayed this difficult decision for as long as possible, but it is abundantly clear given the current conditions in the country and the demands of the government now and in the near future, thata Grand Prix under normal conditions is simply not going to be possible » comments Stuart Pringle, manager of the English complex.

Our obligations to protect the health and safety of everyone involved in the preparation and running of the event, our stewards, race officials, and of course, you, the fans, mean that this is the best , the safest and only decision we can make. »

Ticket holders will be contacted shortly for more information and tickets for the 2021 event will be offered to employees of the NHS (English hospitals) and essential services, on the front line of the crisis.

Let us also remember that Silverstone could host not one but two races this year, in a revised calendar, the resumption date of which we do not yet know.
