The extensions continue in Formula 1. After Monaco, Monza and Zandvoort, it is now China's turn to see its presence on the calendar assured for the years to come. Shanghai, returning in 2024 after a five-year absence, will thus have the right to its Grand Prix until 2030.

The Chinese Grand Prix will be the second round of the 2025 calendar, taking place from March 21-23, and will host the first Sprint event of the season as well as the F1 Academy season opener.

« Our return to China this season for the first time since 2019 has been a fantastic moment for the sport, and it’s incredible to see the levels of support we enjoy in the country continue to grow year on year, said Stefano Domenicalli, Chairman and CEO of Formula 1.

Shanghai is an incredible city and the circuit is a fantastic test for our drivers, so I am delighted that Formula 1 will continue its successful partnership with the Chinese Grand Prix for another five years. I would like to thank our promoter for their continued commitment and passion, and I look forward to returning to Shanghai next year. »

Guo Jianfei, chairman of Shanghai Jiushi (Group) Co., Ltd., the promoter of the Chinese Grand Prix, added: " For many years, Jiushi Group and our subsidiary, Juss Sports, have always adhered to our original intention of striving for excellence in event organization, and this renewal is proof of that. This is great news for fans in China and is a perfect platform to showcase Shanghai to the world as millions of people watch the game on television around the world.”

« In the future, we will continue to work closely with all partners, further strengthen our engagement with international audiences through the event platform, constantly improve the quality of events, and better present the charm of the city of Shanghai, adds Guo Jianfei.

We are fully aware that a successful Grand Prix is not only an exciting race, but also a driving force that enables the entire society to develop in a more positive direction. In the future, we will continue to optimize the event experience through innovation and make a sustainable contribution to society. »

It's hard to do without China, which pays so much... even if part of the grandstands at the Shanghai circuit remain empty, as we can see on television!
