The Historic French Grand Prix moves to Paul-Ricard

Highlight the heritage of motorsport and the heritage of Formula 1, this is the objective of the next Historic French Grand Prix, scheduled for June 11 to 13, 2021. After two editions in Nevers Magny-Cours, the event prepared in collaboration between HVM Racing and the French Motorsport Federation (FFSA) will move to the Var.

Just looking at the poster, the most expert among you will notice three legendary single-seaters: a Tyrrell P34 with six wheels, a McLaren from the early 1980s and a racing car from the 1950s, probably a Maserati or a Ferrari. So many clues as to the platforms present for this historic meeting!

“A true link between the past and present of the Paul Ricard circuit, a place of excellence for Formula 1 yesterday as today, the Historic French GP is a natural prelude to the “modern” French GP. », explains Laurent Vallery-Masson, General Director of HVM Racing.

As part of a specific event, it will offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the golden age of F1, from the fifties to the dawn of the 90s, and more generally, in the history of the car. We are expecting more than 70 Formula 1 racing there! »

An exceptional number, enhanced by the presence of Sport-Proto, Touring, Lotus Seven type vehicles or promotional formulas. The Historic Grand Prix only makes sense if it is accessible to the public, in order to transmit the passion for automobiles. That’s good, spectators should be accepted.

Taking into account the situation linked to the Covid-19 virus, the GIP Grand Prix de France – Le Castellet will limit access to 15 spectators per day distributed in three zones of 000 places each for these two events. This limitation on the number of spectators will evolve depending on the improvement of the health situation and the next decisions of the French Government.

The GIP French Grand Prix – Le Castellet will put on sale tickets to attend the Formula 2 French Grand Prix and the Historic French Grand Prix on its website from December 1 www.gpfrance.com.

Finally, the GIP Grand Prix de France – Le Castellet will provide its spectators with new services to facilitate their reservation: insurance on purchase, payment in 3 installments, a shared payment system and accommodation solutions.

“The name “Grand-Prix”, let us remember, is of French tradition, recalls Nicolas Deschaux, President of the FFSA. In 2017, wishing to promote all historic competitions at the national level, the FFSA created the “Grand Prix de France historique” with HVM Racing, its faithful promoter on the “Historic Tour”, French Championship for the Circuit specialty . Biennial and plunging us back into the atmosphere of period competitions, the “Grand Prix de France historique” quickly became unmissable.

In 2021, for its third meeting, still organized around the heyday of single-seater racing, it joins its present as part of the Paul Ricard circuit, home of the modern French GP on which F1 made its return in 2018. This gathering of the past and present will offer national motorsport and its countless enthusiasts a spectacle of the highest quality.”
