The big leap for Felipe Nasr

The Sauber team has completely changed its lines for 2015. If Adrian Sutil admitted to having a contract for next year, the German and his teammate this season the Mexican Esteban Gutiérrez will be replaced by the Swede Marcus Ericsson and the Brazilian Felipe Nasr, from Williams, where he held the role of test pilot. A profitable experience according to the 22-year-old pilot.

“I have to say that I learned a lot at Williams,” Nasr explains on the Williams website. F1. I am very grateful to them for this opportunity. I drove a car of F1 for the first time with them and I was able to work with the engineers, the mechanics and of course with the other drivers. I also saw how a weekend goes, took part in the meetings and saw how they deal with each problem and I did a lot of work in the simulator. It was a year of intense learning for me, as a driver and as a person, and with all that, I think I am ready to take on the next challenge as a starter. Of course I wanted to stay at Williams, but they have their commitment with Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas so I had to move. I had to build on my momentum and take the next step. Things change very quickly so you need to change quickly too. A year in racing is much better than a test driver role. »

A player in the GP2 Series since 2012 (first at DAMS, then at Carlin), Felipe Nasr remains aware of the difficulty of a rookie season. “A lot depends on the team and how next year will be. They've had a tough season, so I think we have a lot of work to do and of course I want to help. »

Felipe Nasr will make his debut at the wheel of the future single-seaterHinwil during pre-season testing next February in Jerez, Spain.
