The 2020 calendar Formula 1 continues to take shape little by little. To the 8 dates, all in Europe, known for several weeks, two new events have been added.
The Tuscan Grand Prix will take place on September 13 on the Mugello circuit., one week after the Monza meeting (September 6). The 2020 season therefore opens with a trio of triplets, while Mugello will welcome F1 in competition for the first time in its rich history.
The event will also mark the 1000th Grand Prix in the history of Ferrari in the premier category, which was welcomed by Mattia Binotto, team principal of the Scuderia, which has owned the circuit since 1988.
Two weeks later, the sport will travel to Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix (September 27). Despite the doubts surrounding its continuation in view of the health situation, the Russian event therefore retains its initial date.
“We are delighted to be able to announce the presence of Mugello and Sochi on the 2020 calendar, commented Chase Carey, CEO of Formula One Group. We had a great start to the season in Austria last weekend and are increasingly confident that the championship will continue for the remainder of 2020.”
