The Toyota paradox

The team Toyota, who could spend his last season in Formula 1, had a difficult Sunday in Valencia. Finishing only 13th and 14th, Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock remained far from the points but nevertheless managed to display an interesting competitiveness, as evidenced by the best time of the Grand Prix achieved by Timo Glock two laps from the finish.

The German unfortunately had a difficult GP when he was hit in the first corner by a car behind him. Forced to return to the pits, Glock could no longer hope for anything. “ It?s a shame that the start of the race went like this because during the race we were quite fast, as was the case in Budapest », Explains Glock who started from 14th position on the grid. “ I was hit from behind at the first corner and I no longer had any hope of finishing well. But I attacked as much as possible to at least collect data and we showed what we were capable of by setting the best time in the race. »

John Howett, the president of Toyota, in turn wondered about the turn of events. “ This is clearly not the result we were hoping for for this Grand Prix,” he said. “We need to understand why our qualifying pace is worse than our race pace because our car is relatively competitive. We have to get the best out of the car. »
