The hardest part remains for Rosberg in Abu Dhabi

Nico Rosberg took a very important pole at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in his fight for the title against Lewis Hamilton. If the German obtained the best possible result in qualifying at Yas Marina, with a lap completed in 1'40"480 with more than 3 tenths ahead of his rival, the latter maintains the advantage by occupying the first row since 'a 2nd place would be enough for him to win the coronation. However, the Williams have shown themselves to be efficient as evidenced by the 2nd line obtained by Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa.

But the Silver Arrows demonstrate exceptional consistency and it would take a unique combination of circumstances for the situation to turn to Nico Rosberg's advantage. Lewis Hamilton has not missed the top two places since his retirement at the Belgian GP. The Briton's last 3rd place dates back to the previous race in Budapest (Hungary). " It's a beautiful day. I was happy with my settings and the car performed well. But it's just a step, a small step, because it's about the World Championship, not about pole or anything else. I'm thinking of doing the job by continuing on the form I had in Brazil. »

Nico Rosberg no longer has his destiny completely in his hands, but the German remains aware that a lot of things can happen in this last event of the season. “It will be a great fight, but I’m not just hoping for victory. I have to hope for a battle between Lewis and Valtteri (Bottas, 3rd on the grid) and that he is particularly competitive to do the impossible tomorrow. Pressure is one of the elements that allows me to remain optimistic. If Lewis is under pressure and he makes a mistake, a bit like today or like in Brazil (where he spun), it will be a good opportunity for me. I will constantly stay on the attack. »
