Championship update: Mercedes and Hamilton escape

Lewis Hamilton isolates himself at the top of the Drivers' championship. The Briton increased his margin over his teammate Valtteri Bottas of 25 points in one race, which allows him to now have 30 units ahead.

The fight for the role of runner-up intensifies, because Max Verstappen (Red Bull) is only 6 lengths behind the Finn. The peloton is then very tight with three points between Lando Norris (McLaren) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), and 16 points between the Englishman and Lance stroll (Racing Point), 9th!

Note the unprecedented rank of Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) after four events. The German is only in 13th place, behind the French Esteban Ocon (Renault) and Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri).

This Sunday, four drivers failed to collect their first units in 2020. They are George Russell and Nicholas latifi (Williams), Romain Grosjean (Haas) and KimI Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo).

The gap is even more abysmal in the Manufacturers’ championship. Indeed, the Star brand has almost double the points compared to its direct pursuer, Red Bull (146 against 78 points). McLaren still scores valuable points and maintains its “best of the rest” position ahead of Ferrari, while Renault closes to just 10 points behind Racing Point.

At the bottom of the table, we find Alfa Romeo, Haas and Williams, which has yet to open its counter.
